Gum Disease Management

Gum disease is a chronic condition that requires ongoing care to prevent progression. After initial treatment, we create a customized periodontal maintenance plan that may include more frequent cleanings, at-home oral hygiene recommendations, and regular check-ups to monitor your gum health. Our goal is to keep gum disease under control and reduce the risk of further damage to your gums, bone, and teeth. Early intervention and consistent follow-up are key to preserving your natural smile.

What Is a Gum Graft Procedure?

If your dentist recently recommended a gum graft, the procedure may sound worse than it really is. Gum Grafting is a surgical procedure that aims at correcting gum recession. The doctor adds additional gum tissue underneath your existing gums to cover the exposed part of your tooth. The procedure is done in the office with local anesthetic and pain and recovery can be easily managed by you at home.

What to Expect

During the procedure, your dentist will add connective tissue to the receding gums to help cover the exposed area of your teeth. In some cases, they may take healthy tissue from one area of your mouth and use it to cover the exposed tooth root, but in most cases, the dentist can complete the procedure using allograft, which is processed donor tissue that comes in a sterile packet. An allograft is very safe and saves time during your surgery and recovery. Our Doctors have provided and even received these types of grafts, so they are very safe and effective. There are three main types of gum tissue grafts.
