Late August on the Palouse asks two things of a family at once. The combines are still in the wheat, and the school calendar in Colfax, Palouse, Garfield and Albion is about to start whether or not the crop is in.
Somewhere in that squeeze is a dental checkup that has been on the list since June. For a family twenty minutes from the nearest dentist, that visit is not a fifteen-minute errand — it is a town day, and town days are expensive in August.

That is exactly what we try to do. Tell us how many children and roughly what ages when you call, and we will block back to back appointments so one drive down Highway 195 covers the whole family.
Call in July or the first week of August. The last two weeks before classes start are the busiest of our year, and rural families who wait until then usually end up scheduling into September instead.
A sealant is a thin protective coating painted onto the chewing surface of a back molar, where the grooves are too deep for a toothbrush to clean well. They are quick, they do not require drilling, and they are most useful on permanent molars soon after those teeth come in.
For football it is required, and it is a good idea for basketball, soccer, wrestling and anything else with contact. A custom guard fits better than a boil and bite version, which matters because a guard that is uncomfortable ends up in a gym bag instead of a mouth.
Yes. Harvest and the school calendar collide every year on the Palouse and we plan for it. Early morning appointments starting at 7:30 are usually the easiest fit, and we can put the kids in while one parent stays on the combine.
